History
Hailing from Sherborn, Massachusetts, Richard (Dick) and Joan Downing have always been lovers of the state of Vermont. They own a second home on scenic Darling Hill Road, and stay often during their endless travels.
Several years ago, Dick Downing was diagnosed with cancer. Being an avid reader, he began to research alternative methods for the treatment of the disease. After going through the both physically and emotionally exhausting treatments he was forced to endure, Dick Downing committed himself to building the Stepping Stone Spa and Wellness Center.
Dick envisioned a warm, scenic, and truly relaxing environment where individuals would gather to learn about important and essential lifestyle changes; changes that would impact their quality, and length of life. He envisioned educating these individuals about alternative and preventative treatments and therapies, so they might avoid the often traumatic treatments of modern medicine.
In addition, Dick researched other essential components of one's overall health. This education would be reflected in the form of nutrition and cooking workshops, fitness training, and the pampering of one's body; all interconnected to form the mind, body, and spirit connection.
Meadow View Farm raises all-natural, grass-fed Belted Galloways, and at the greenhouse, we cultivate our own organic fruits and veggies, transplanting them in our many gardens on the hillside.
In conclusion, changing one's lifestyle does not happen over night. On the path to wellbeing and optimal health, there are many stepping stones we must climb over. The Stepping Stone Spa and Wellness Center can offer support in so many ways while on this journey.
