Things to Know for Physical Therapy Appointment ** For each physical therapy/myofascial release session, please refrain from using any skin lotions or creams, unless medically necessary. Also, wearing a two-piece bathing suit, jog bra and underwear or tank top and shorts is recommended. You will be reminded to drink plenty of water after your session to assist in cellular hydration.
Each session is scheduled for 60 minutes and generally will begin with an observation of posture in standing, viewed from the front and back. This will allow for an assessment of where restrictions of the immense connective tissue or fascial system, may be pulling the body off center, causing imbalances and compensations or holding patterns.
Because this approach addresses the fascial system, which is a three dimensional web of connective tissue, encasing every single other tissue of the body (muscle, nerve) down to each individual cell (the cellular level), it truly is a whole-body approach. The fascial system connects everything, everywhere, from the top of the head to the tips of the toes, front to back, diagonally in every direction. Where one area of the body is experiencing pain, there might be restrictions from another, connected area, causing the dysfunction or compression.
